DCYOP’s mission is to empower young people to transform their lives through music and community. Founded in 1960 by DC Public School teacher Lyn McLain, DCYOP has been an integral part of the Washington, DC community, fostering the musical and academic development of more than 60,000 youth. The first youth orchestra to perform at the Kennedy Center, DCYOP has toured 23 countries, played for U.S. presidents and diplomats, and worked with world-renowned musicians including Aaron Copland, Lorin Maazel, Mstislav Rostropovich, Gustavo Dudamel, Joshua Bell, and Yo-Yo Ma. DCYOP has also received the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award and the District of Columbia Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Arts Education.

Founded in 2002, Pacific Youth Choir has been changing lives through music in Portland, OR. Now ten choirs strong accommodating K-12th grades, PYC has also launched the PYC@Whitman project. PYC@Whitman is intentionally directed to address inequities that affect youth and families in our community. Founded in 2005, the Memphis Blues Society promotes throughout the Memphis region the Blues music of the MidSouth and the musicians who create it. We involve amateur musicians and professionals alike in weekly jam sessions. We present Bluesday Tuesday, an 18 week Spring-Summer concert series and the two-day Bona Fide Blues Festival which features the best of blues performers from the MidSouth and attracts visitors from around the world. The MBS is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation.
