Last Mile Food Rescue

Mission: Last Mile addresses the disconnect between food waste, hunger and environmental sustainability by rescuing food about to go to landfills and directly distributing toorganizations that serve communities in need. By using technology, volunteers are able to redirect fresh, healthy viable food directory to those who are food insecure.

Since 1995, the St. Luke Food Pantry has been providing food boxes to the food insecure members of the Lee County, MS area.

Forsyth Backpack Program

FORSYTH BACKPACK PROGRAM IS A LOCAL, ALL-VOLUNTEER 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT BELIEVES ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE THE BEST VERSIONS OF THEMSELVES THAT THEY CAN BE. TO THAT END, FORSYTH BACKPACK PROGRAM PROVIDES NUTRITIOUS FOOD IN BACKPACKS ON WEEKENDS AND LONG HOLIDAYS TO WS/FCS STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL PERSONNEL AS BEING IN NEED OF FOOD AND TO CHILDREN IN NEED OF SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.EACH BACKPACK PURCHASED FROM SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF NORTHWEST NC ("SECOND HARVEST") AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $5 CONSISTS OF 2 BREAKFASTS AND 2 LUNCHES. THE PRODUCTS ARE KID-FRIENDLY, EASILY ACCESSIBLE BY CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 5, AND CAN BE EATEN WITH NO COOKING REQUIRED.

Elijahs Promise

Since 1989, Elijah’s Promise has harnessed the power of food to break the cycle of poverty, alleviate hunger and change lives for the most vulnerable members of our Central New Jersey community. We operate a community soup kitchen, culinary arts school, catering business, community gardens and connect low-income individuals and families with social and health services. With the support of volunteers, donors and community partners, we serve more than 200,000 free meals per year and train previously unskilled workers for careers in the culinary arts.
