The Colibrí Center for Human Rights is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization with the mission to end disappearance and uphold human dignity along the U.S.-Mexico border. Colibrí works in solidarity with the families of the disappeared to find truth and justice through forensic science, investigation, and community organizing. Colibrí bears witness to this unjust loss of life, accompanying families in their search and holding space for families to build community, share stories, and raise consciousness about this human rights crisis. Through the Missing Migrant Project and DNA Program, Colibrí works with medical examiners to compare information families provide about the missing as well as DNA samples with unidentified remains recovered along the border in the hopes of giving families the answers they so deserve. Beyond the forensic work, Colibrí and impacted families build community and advocate for change through the Family Network, a network of mutual support and solidarity among families and friends of missing migrants across the Americas, and Bring them Back and Historias y Recuerdos, oral history- advocacy projects that center and amplify family voices. Colibrí began in 2006 as the Missing Migrant Project, a small volunteer initiative inside the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner designed to organize information about people who were missing on the border to help identify the hundreds of individuals being examined by the forensic scientists in that office. In 2013, the Missing Migrant Project became the Colibrí Center for Human Rights to better address the needs of families of the missing and advocate for more structural change.

In a nutshell, we’re a group of friends who share a common desire to keep Melissa’s Hope going, now, and well into the future. Please feel free to contact any one of us with questions and ideas. Melissa’s Hope is a rare and wonderful place. Its a positive and busy community that feels a lot like summer camp. Visiting Melissa’s Hope feels good because its run by good people who treat the orphans, students, and day campers with respect and great care. Its also an expensive place to run. Right now, people who know Melissa’s Hope are raising money where they can to keep it going, but its month by month with practically no reserve. Its a fragile state that we intend to change. MHF is a volunteer organization. We established MHF with our own time, energy, and money, so donations are NOT subject to any overhead or expenses. Every dollar of every donation goes directly to Melissa’s Hope.

As a charity organization, we obviously cannot help these in need without your generous support. AFUNO is a nonprofit tax-exempt charity organization dedicated to providing footwear to students who are in dire need. Our main focus is to ensure that, all students have an adequate pair of shoes and also focus on making sure that no students walk to school barefooted. We are taken the first step to help the underprivileged school-aged and the talented to have the opportunity to own a pair of shoes. Your unwanted footwear creates opportunity many need. Walking becomes unbearable. Every day many children are prevented from attending school or sport activity, adults are unable to work, farmers are unable to farm their land, and doctors and nurses cannot properly and professionally perform their duties as a medical professional, they cannot properly provide a medical footwear to a child in need because they know that in this hardship financial conditions, parents can't afford one. A new pair of shoes provides relief in many people's lives in Haiti, in times of disaster, and helps bridge the economic gap in the South and South-West of Haiti. This is why your donation makes a huge impact in the Haitian families. So, we need your help to keep on going.
