Our ultimate goal: -To educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering to diminish the overpopulation of homeless animals. -To diminish the total amount of animals euthanized in shelters. -To offer support and resources to responsible animal owners.

Pet Orphans of Southern California (POSC) is dedicated to combating the national crisis of overpopulation, abandonment and euthanasia through extensive education programs. While focusing on the universal concern, POSC is committed to serving its community by rescuing and rehabilitating adoptable homeless dogs and cats, providing them with exceptional care and then carefully matching them with suitable adoptive families. In addition to education and rescue, POSC provides broad community support by offering a wide range of services including medical/financial, spay/neuter and training assistance, encouraging responsible pet guardianship thus reducing abandonment and other consequences that deepen the national crisis.

THE PURPOSE OF HOPEFUL TAILS ANIMAL RESCUE IS TO: (A) RESCUE DOGS IN DANGER OF BEING EUTHANIZED AT HIGH KILL SHELTERS, (B) TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DOGS THAT ARE SURRENDERED BY OWNERS THAT CAN NO LONGER CARE FOR THEM, (C) PROVIDE NECESSARY VETERINARY CARE WITH THE INCLUSION OF A SPAY OR NEUTER, (D) PROVIDE LOVING TEMPORARY CARE AT HOPEFUL TAILS AND WITH THE FOSTER PROGRAM, (E) PLACE RESCUED DOGS INTO WELL-MATCHED, CAREFULLY SELECTED, PERMANENT ADOPTIVE HOMES AND (F) SERVE AS A RESOURCE TO THE COMMUNITY AND ALL DOG OWNERS BY PROVIDING EDUCATION AND INFORMATION ON RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP, INCLUDING THE IMPORTANCE OF SPAY OR NEUTER, POSITIVE BEHAVIOR TRAINING AND GOOD NUTRITION.

Establish The Shadow Fund, a medical grant program to provide financial grants for the benefit of retired K9s who have served the citizens of Indiana. Collaborate with multi-jurisdictional organizations to elevate training opportunities for Central Indiana K9s in service to our citizens by building a permanent training site. Build a War Dog Monument to honor the service of these brave animals to include a “heroes section” for the interment of K9s either killed in the line of duty or after retirement from service as a K9 officer.

Shadow’s Fund is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable shelter dogs. Senior dogs, dogs labelled as “pit bulls” and dogs with a treatable injury or illness are often passed over for adoption. We help these forgotten dogs find hope and 2nd chances. Our 3 core programs tackle the problem from every angle. Bright Beginnings is aimed at early intervention and prevention. The Take Me Home Project provides direct rescue and rehoming for shelter dogs. And, for those dogs that need a little extra help, the Sheltering Oak Sanctuary provides a safety net and safe haven. Whether out in the community, or at the sanctuary, Shadow’s Fund is always working to promote responsible and humane animal stewardship.

Wildlife Response, Inc. (WRI) is dedicated to the preservation of wildlife through rehabilitation and education. One of the most universal challenges today in the battle to save wild things and wild places is how to bond people to the physical world in a powerful enough way to give them the motivation to want to protect and preserve it. It is especially important in our growing suburban and urban communities to increase significant associations connecting people and nature, especially where natural environments and natural experiences are less and less common. On a local level, the steady arrival of new residents to the Hampton Roads area is having a overwhelming impact on our wildlife and natural environment. As we accommodate this progression, it is essential that people who now call the Hampton Roads area home understand the sensitive balance of human and non-human populations, the affect we have on the natural environment, and the best ways in which we can coexist.

At Michelson Found Animals Foundation, our mission is Saving Pets. Enriching Lives. We work to put pets in good homes and keep them there with a range of programs that encompass social enterprise and philanthropy. We operate the first free national microchip registry to help reunite lost pets with their families. With our Adopt & Shop retail stores, we've helped over 20,000 shelter pets find new homes - and reinvest retail sales proceeds to save more pets. And with our grant programs, we've facilitated millions of spay and neuter surgeries for low-income pet owners. Since 2006, The Dog Alliance has been improving the lives of families and individuals through therapeutic programs which incorporate the powerful connection between dogs and humans. Key programs include: Hounds for Heroes is the service dog program of Austin Dog Alliance. In addition to being trained to be unobtrusive in public, our service dogs are trained to mitigate the symptoms of post-traumatic stress (PTS), anxiety and or depression. Each dogs performs a minimum of three tasks that enable their partner to lead a more "normal" life. The tasks are selected after extensive conversations with the adopter. S+CORE! (Students + Canines = Opportunities for Rewarding Employment) capitalizes on the relationship between canines and adults to build job skills to provide life-long employment options for adults with disabilities. Students who complete the 86-hour program are provided job placement and coaching as they transition to paid employment. The Bow Wow Reading Dogs program teaches reading skills to at-risk readers by providing highly trained dogs and their handlers to local elementary schools, every week of the school year. Pet therapy visits in nursing homes and hospitals. Over 145 pet therapy dog handlers and their dog partners visit more than 50 hospitals, nursing homes and hospices in the Austin area. In 2015, they provided more than 6,000 hours of volunteer service visiting the elderly and sick in our community.

Minnesota-based K9s From Carrie is a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States to shine light on mental health awareness through education and the pairing of individuals with dogs to help manage mental illness and reduce suicide. We believe people of all ages and backgrounds suffering from mental illness deserve respect and support rather than embarrassment and shame. Our primary objective is to provide support to people in mental health crisis by sponsoring the purchase and training of emotional support dogs. We do this by 1) pairing a physically and emotionally sound dog with individuals as well as sponsoring obedience and emotional support training to that dog, and by 2) sponsoring obedience and emotional support training for an existing dog belonging to an individual or family. K9s From Carrie also promotes mental health and suicide prevention awareness through events and speaking engagements.

Pets for Vets Washington DC Metro rescues animals from area shelters and trains them to become Companion Animals for Veterans who may be challenged with an invisible injury such as PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury. Saving the life of a homeless animal while significantly improving the wellbeing of an injured Veteran is an amazing way to give back to your community!
