We provide food, shelter, vet and farrier care along with plenty of love and hands on personal care for farm animals who have been neglected, abused or find themselves in need of a safe haven to live out their years. Our focus is on special needs and senior animals although we have animals of every age and ability here. We started our sanctuary in Cairo, GA in 2016 and moved to Hodges, South Carolina in early 2020 when we needed more land for our animals.

Our mission is to build a community of people and organizations working together to save today’s, and prevent tomorrow’s, abused, neglected and homeless animals. How we do this ……. Deliver the highest level of animal care to prepare today’s animals in need for their future homes Bring together the cats and dogs who need a loving family with the people who want them Provide community services and resources to ensure every animal has a safe and healthy life For more than 50 years, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter has been providing exceptional care for homeless animals, working tirelessly to find a permanent, loving home for every cat and dog we serve. Our priority is to save abandoned animals within our community; however, our efforts don’t end there. We also partner with shelters around the country to save at-risk animals from being euthanized. Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter never euthanizes any animal for time or space reasons. Adoptable animals reside with us until they find their forever home. We become their loving family until they become a part of yours. Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that is solely funded by contributions, grants and bequests.

Hero Pups

We place dogs with veterans and first responders. Our focus is on training dogs to help alleviate symptoms of post traumatic stress and service connected challenges. We use rescues dogs whenever possible to help 2 lives at a time.

Tails Of Valor Paws Of Honor Program

Tails of Valor®, Paws of Honor, Inc (TOV) was established in 2014 with a mission to provide rehabilitation through non-medicinal therapies. Our animal assisted therapy rehabilitation programs provide social interactions and human/canine bonding resulting in service dogs able to assist with the physical and psychological issues affecting our Veterans and their families. Our canines can enhance a therapeutic environment which will reduce friction caused when experiencing social activities, thus leading to increased communication and focus. Our staff provides support needed for positive physical and mental health social interactions during training sessions with our canines, all of who are named in honor of a fallen soldier. Support for Veteran and canine are life long.
