NOF's mission is to advance neurosurgical care for the diseases of the brain in underserved communities around the world through service, education, and support. Our programs impact at the individual, institutional, and societal levels to help balance out neurosurgical inequity and improve access to care worldwide. For example SG3.2 states that by 2030, to end preventable deaths of newborns and children < 5 years of age; NOF is active in advancing treatments for pediatric hydrocephalus and spina bifida in LMICs that impact newborn and child health. through its Hydrocephalus Center Program in collaboration with other NGOs and through its Educational Surgical Missions. Another example is SDG3.c, NOF participates in the training/education of the neurosurgical workforce capacity to satisfy the unmet need for neurosurgical care through our Educational Surgical Missions and Educational Awards programs.
